On the Road in Japan — Japan

On the Road in Japan is a black-and-white street photography series from two weeks travelling alone through Tokyo, Kyoto, Kamakura, and Kanazawa. With no fixed plan beyond a rail pass and a camera, I walked each city from morning until the light gave out, photographing whatever crossed my path.

Far from home and mostly silent, I found Japan slowed me down in a way I did not expect. The pictures here are what remains of that fortnight: strangers, crossings, quiet corners — a solo journey gathered frame by frame.
