London Calling — London

London Calling is my street photography series made with a Leica M11-P on the days I find myself in London. I live in Heidelberg but my work takes me to London often enough that the city has become a regular part of my life. When the meetings end and a few hours open up I walk with the camera and look for whatever the streets decide to give that day.

The title comes from two places at once. One is simple: London keeps calling me back for work, and I answer by photographing it. The other is quieter. I was born in Ankara, the same city as Joe Strummer. That shared starting point sits in the background of the name, a small private link to the song and to where we both began.

I treat the time I have in London as something precious. I fill every free hour with the camera, walking the same streets again and again until the pictures start to feel true to the way I see the place.
